Frank Curley scored the only goal of the match on 27 minutes. It followed a corner taken by Jon Hunt which was played short to Tommy Black, and then partly cleared to the half way line. Tambeson Eyong won the ball and powered down the right, before touching inside to Lewis Smith who in turn side footed to FRANKIE CURLEY, who neatly slotted home from just inside the area.
Grays had the better territorial play for the first 15 minutes, and then Hornchurch began to take command. In the second half both Elliot Styles and Ashley Taylor-Forbes went close to scoring, and the Hornchurch goal was rarely troubled. Darren Behcet had to palm away one free kick from the right but Hornchurch were well in command.
Home keeper Stephen Northwood made some good saves to keep Grays in with a chance, and Jean-Michel Sigere played up front with Joe Sweeney, but the home forward line made little impression.
