Match Report by Tony Middelton

With John Purdie missing through a one match suspension and Jamie Southon nursing an injury, Dave Collins and Jordan Bostock came into the starting line up, and Jim McFarlane took over as captain. Amos Foyewa was included in the squad for the first time, following his transfer from Thurrock. Urchins started slowly but could have taken the lead when Cross hit a hard drive wide of the goal from Janney’s pass, and a Collins long pass out to Parker almost created an opening, with Simon running on to the ball but being unable to chip it over Hart. A Collins free kick fooled the defence and Lee ran in unmarked to power his header just over the bar, and another free kick, when Levine fouled Parker, saw Collins hit his shot just past the post. Flackwell Heath rarely threatened, and on the rare occasion they got near the home goal, Bostock and McFarlane dealt with everything that came their way. Flackwell’s one real shooting chance fell to Levine, whose free kick went sailing high over the bar.

Lee headed wide from another Collins’ free kick, and a good run by Parker on the left, from Glozier’s pass, saw an excellent through ball to Janney, and Hart could only parry the shot, the ball coming back out to Lee, with Hart saving again. Lee was very harshly booked following a collision with keeper Hart, and the onslaught continued unabated, and Urchins could have gone in front when the ball bounced all around the goalmouth after Hart had failed to hold a hard shot, and eventually Cross hit the shot hard and just too high. A goal followed soon after when Janney and Parker combined well and Simon turned and placed the ball inside to GARRY CROSS who scored with a hard shot that gave Hart no chance.

A minute later Parker chipped the ball over to Lee, in almost the same position, and Lee’s hard shot went just past the post. Hart saved again, this time from Cross, and the second goal came when Parker set up GARRY CROSS, who hooked the ball in, off the far post.

Two nil at half time, during which Sir Gary explained to everyone how much he had enjoyed his weekend in Blackpool – would you recommend it, someone asked. The reply was unprintable, but most illuminating, none the less. Something about it being overpriced, over rated, and over the top. Meanwhile a lucky Urchin walked off with the £75 jackpot, and the prize for the best Haloween costume was very much in the balance, with Jenny and Max early favourites.

The second half started with Urchins maintaining their total dominance, Parker being pulled back when going through by Thorne, though Tomlinson’s free kick came to nothing. Janney wriggled his way down the right and from his low cross into the goalmouth Lee prodded the ball goalwards, and Hart saved right on the line. Lee went close with a header from Fletcher’s long kick, and a Glozier centre reached Lee, who shot across the goal with no one able to get a touch.. Collins decided to go it alone, with a 70 yard run from the edge of his own penalty area, and Havermans eventually tackled on the edge of the other penalty area. Lee went close with another header, this time from Adam Parker’s centre, and Lee again, this time from Fletcher. Bostock put Forewa through and Amos rounded three defenders before losing possession. McFarlane to Bostock to Janney, and again to Forewa, with Levine tackling. And then it was a Janney spectacular, when he ran 60 yards through the middle, and was pulled down by Connor, the yellow card being worthy of a red, but Collins free kick went begging in front of goal. Forewa got through again, his shot being saved by Hart. Styles intercepted when Thorne tried to find a way through, and a Collins’ centre saw Lee’s shot charged down, with Forewa following up, and his shot was touched around by Hart for a corner, which Janney took, and Kelly headed away. Janney again set off on a weaving run, his shot being saved by Hart, and Lee then took a pass from Glozier and crossed to Forewa, whose shot was saved well by Hart. The third goal was long overdue, and it came when KRIS LEE headed home from Janney’s centre.

Flackwell Heath had a chance of their own when Thorne tried a shot, which went high over the bar, and Brightley had a rare touch of the ball when he turned a shot around the post, and then caught Wright’s corner as the ball came in from the left. The fourth goal came when AMOS FOREWA ran solo through the middle, drew Hart and then hit a good left footed drive hard into the net. Four nil, a comfortable win, but it could so easily have been a lot more.
