With a hastily patched together side we came close to getting something out of an evenly matched game with perhaps Dorchester's greater match fitness pulling them through in the end.

It was a great first half performance. Dorchester took the lead through a wickedly deflected Justin Keeler free kick in the 13th minute but we responded well.  Jean-Michel Sigere shot just wide in the 17th minute and new signing Mark Peters shot just over 3 minutes later after Steve Clark pulled the ball back from the bye-line.  On the half hour Peters crashed a shot against the underside of the crossbar from close range following a far post cross from Mark Robson.  Peters, though, equalised 5 minutes later when he lashed a shot past Rocco Bacchini from just inside the area.  We took the lead a couple of minutes before half time when Sigere nodded home at the near post from a John Martin cross.

Early in the second half the visitors equalised. Adiobun Baruwa made a terrific save from a Mark Robinson shot but turned villain from the ensuing corner when he dropped what looked like a relatively easy take and Matt Groves poked the ball home from the ensuing goalmouth scramble.  A minute later we came close to restoring our lead when a clearance from Dorchester defender Simon Radcliffe narrowly past the post after Sigere barely failed to make contact with a Peters cross.  But Dorchester began to take more control with 20 minutes to go and scored the winner in the 78th minute when Groves ran clear down the right and blasted past Baruwa.
