We went to the top of the table with this win but as with most local derbies it was a tough match.

Redbridge could have gone in front in the 3rd minute when Ellis Remy got clear from a counter-attack but shot too closely to Ashley Bayes who collected.  For the next 20 minutes though the home defence were seriously tested.  Keeper Alex O'Reilly made a great save from a well directed Kirk Jackson header in the 11th minute and Wayne Purser glanced a header across goal and wide from a Darren Caskey cross two minutes later.  Purser shot wide under pressure from Chris Perkins when well placed on 18 minutes but our breakthrough came 3 minutes after that when a short back-pass let in Purser who easily rounded O'Reilly and rolled the ball home.  A Wormull cross from a surging break in the 23rd minute met the head of Darren Caskey but the effort went just wide.  Redbridge weathered the storm and began to get back into the game

After the break Redbridge built on their encouraging finish to the first half and a fine saving tackle from Lee Matthews early on denied Remy.  O'Reilly saved well from Purser a minute later and we came even closer when a Damon Searle free kick eluded everyone in the penalty area and came back off the post, much to the relief of O'Reilly who could only stand and watch.  With 5 minutes left a great move from Redbridge finished with an acrobatic overhead kick from Remy which went wide but on another day may have ended up in the roof of the net, but within a minute a defence splitting pass from Adie Harris let in Jean-Michel Sigere who was upended by O'Reilly just inside the area.  A yellow card for O'Reilly but joy as he saved Darren Caskey's spot kick.
